Workouts 10/19 – 10/25

As per usual, I got super motivated to start the week off strong with running and working out and then the motivation dwindled as the week went out.  It was, however, one of my better weeks of the past few.

Monday – 7.45 miles in 1:01:00 (8:11/mile pace) + Soccer Game

Tuesday – 5.6 miles in 44:35 (8:01/mile pace)

Wednesday – OFF

Thursday – Soul Cycle

Friday – OFF

Saturday – Orange Theory (2.25 running miles during class)

Sunday – 5 miles + Orange Theory (3 running miles during class)

Total – 23.3 miles + Soul Cycle + 2 OTF Classes

The run portion of Monday was actually 2 separate runs with the soccer game in between.  I’m on a work-sponsored soccer team and haven’t made it to the past few games because of the time, but this one was at 6:30 so much easier to get to.  I left work around 5:30 and ran 5 miles before the game, ending at the soccer field.  This was the first time I wore my Garmin watch since Boston.  I felt it was time to whip it out again because I can tell I’ve slowed down lately.  Since I had the Garmin and I have a 5k in 2 weeks, I thought I’d try to throw in some speed work.  Keyword here is SOME.

After 18 minutes, I did 3 minutes at a hard effort.  Then the rest of the run was back down to normal pace.  Afterwards, I checked my stats and saw that the hard 3 minute segment was .46 miles, so 6:31 pace.  A good start, but there was no way I could do it for more than 3 minutes…or more than once, even after running normal pace again.  After the soccer game, I had to run back down to the office (2.45 miles) to get my bag and get to the train!

On Tuesday after work, I set out to do the same thing as Monday.  I wanted to try throwing in the hard segment again, maybe try to do more than one this time.  That didn’t happen, but I did make it .47 miles for a 6:21 pace this time.  #babysteps  Then just did the rest at a normal pace, which right now seems to be about an 8:15.

Oh, we lost the soccer game on Monday :(

Unfortunately, my Orange Theory days are ending soon.  The last day of my membership is tomorrow and then I do still have 2 classes to use that don’t expire (or I think they do, but not until next August.)  I had to cancel, but all for good reason!  I have been enjoying it though, so I’ll do a write up of what their classes are like soon.

I do have to say that I felt much stronger on the treadmill portion of the Orange Theory classes than I have in the past, but extremely weak in the floor/rowing portions and I am extremely sore all over as I write this.  I need to figure out how to get strong.

I think I’ve been writing too many work emails lately because when I wrote yesterday’s post and today’s I automatically typed: “Thanks, Colleen” at the bottom as my sign-off.

How was your week of work outs?

Do you religiously run with a Garmin/watch or go in phases?

One Thought on “Workouts 10/19 – 10/25

  1. Hahaha there have been many occasions where I’ve almost written “Love, Bethany” at the end of my work emails because I had just finished emailing family, and I’m always glad when I catch that! “Thanks, Colleen” at the end of a blog post is a little less awkward, at least haha. I’m so curious about Orange Theory! It looks really interesting, but I also imagine it’s not exactly cheap.
